Caliphate: The Global Islamic Civilization "The Global Islamic Civilization: The Power of a Nation Revived" is a malignant manifesto of arrogant supremacism,  nothing new.  It is a restatement of long established Islamic doctrines

    The American Muslim speculates that it is spurious, created by "Islamophobes", functionally equivalent to The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. while I will give TAM credit for posting links to the manifesto, the author's blog & Facebook page, I am not convinced that the manifesto is spurious. I did not find any evidence to discredit it. 

    I do not know whether the quotes about wiping Christianity off the earth, etc. are accurate or not and I am not concerned about them.  It ain't what they say or write that bothers me: I am concerned about their aspirations & intentions. 

Islamic Revival

    Islamic revival is not a novel concept. 

Sunan Abu Dawud Book 37, Number 4278:

Narrated AbuHurayrah:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah will raise for this community at the end of every hundred years the one who will renovate its religion for it.

    Faith & piety are required for Islam's success. Muslims   can not be successful if they do not obey Allah and emulate Moe.  Therein lies a major problem. 

Jihad: The forgotten Obligation

    What are the consequences of abandoning jihad?  Hilali & Khan, in their footnote to Surah Al-Baqarag 2:190, list several of them. 

• Islam is destroyed
• Muslims
  • fall into an inferior position
  • lose their
    •  honor
    •  lands
    • rule and authoity.

    One hadith teaches us a great deal about jihad:

• Jihad is

    • agriculture
  • the "original religion" of Islam.
• Allah will curse Muslims by making disgrace prevail over them if they abandon jihad for agriculture.

Sunan Abu Dawud Book 23, Number 3455:

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:

I heard the Apostle of Allah, (peace_be_upon_him) say: When you enter into the inah transaction, hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture, and give up conducting jihad (struggle in the way of Allah). Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion.

Ummah = empire

    This gem comes from the third page of the manifesto.

"People who follow Islam are divinely selected and guided by the Almighty Allah Himself, these people then form part of a great Islamic Civilization, that are united as one Nation, a Universal Empire, known as the Muslim Ummah"

    How are empires built? How did the ancestors of most Muslims alive today become Muslims?  Jihad!  By universal, the author means global.  The caliphate must be all inclusive, ruling the entire world. 

best nation

    On the fourth page of the manifesto, Surah Al-Imran 3:110 is quoted. 

3:110. You [true believers in Islâmic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad  and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islâm has forbidden), and you believe in Allâh. And had the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have faith, but most of them are Al-Fâsiqûn (disobedient to Allâh - and rebellious against Allâh's Command).

3:111. They will do you no harm, barring a trifling annoyance; and if they fight against you, they will show you their backs, and they will not be helped.

3:112. Indignity is put over them wherever they may be, except when under a covenant (of protection) from Allâh, and from men; they have drawn on themselves the Wrath of Allâh, and destruction is put over them. This is because they disbelieved in the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh and killed the Prophets without right. This is because they disobeyed (Allâh) and used to transgress beyond bounds (in Allâh's disobedience, crimes and sins).

 Allah was telling the Muslims that they are the best ummah because they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong.   He also told them that we would not mount an effective resistance to their conquest.  There is something more that you need to know, which can only be found in a hadith which explains 3:111.

Sahih Bukhari  Volume 6, Book 60, Number 80:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Verse:--"You (true Muslims) are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind." means, the best of peoples for the people, as you bring them with chains on their necks till they embrace Islam.

The highlighted clause contains a clue for you; read it again.  Shall we be brought to Islam in chains?  My response is too profane to print. 

Islam's right to rule

    After proclaiming the supposed moral superiority of Islam, the manifesto gets down to brass tacks on page 6.

It would be the most Moral Society on the face of the earth, it is such people that deserve full respect and honor, it is such people that not only deserve to Rule the World, it is their Right to Rule the World.

Reformers

    Page 14 of the manifesto is loaded with meaning. Reformation would involve removing the genocidal conquest imperatives. Of course, that is impossible because Islam is perfected & immutable.

"The enemies of Islam have been working hard on weakening the Imaan (faith) and belief of the entire Muslim Ummah and their attack is on every individual Muslim and they are using the Munafiqeen (Hypocrites) among us, the Munafiq [our hidden enemy] are clearly identified just as the Almighty Allah mentions in the Holy Quran.  These people [our hidden enemies] have been working on a project to try and destroy Islam from within, this project is known as Reformation of Islam, I repeat so look at the words [Reformation of Islam] not reformation of people to Islam, my beloved brothers, sisters, elders and respected Ulama they know very well of our grievances and they use this to their advantage, instead of following what Allah and His Messenger subscribes for us [the Shariah of al Islam] they subscribe the vile Kufr system called Democracy, they call themselves Reformists, Modernist and Moderate Muslims yet nothing about them resembles a Muslim with the lowest amount of faith. They claim to be the voice of the Muslim Ummah but they are the mouthpieces of the Kufaar."

 

Jihad

    This subject leads off page 16 of the manifesto with a grand deception. 

"All Praise is due to Allah, who has based the heavens and the earth on justice and given permission to the oppressed to take revenge from his oppressor in due measure. [Satement by one of the Mujahideen who met the Barakah of Martyrdom] Oh fellow Believers, We find the Almighty Allah commands us to Fight those “The Kufaar” who fight against us, and to fight them is Fard (Compulsory) upon all Muslims, and Allah lays down the criteria of justice for Jihad “great struggle” against them in the Holy Quran [Surah Al Baqara 2:190-193],
And such True Believers can never be defeated, for Allah is always their Defender and Helper: And be not weak hearted, nor grieve, for you will have the upper hand, if you are True Believers. [Surah 3:139]"

    Surah Al Baqara 2:190-193 is supposed to apply to defensive jihad, when Muslim lands are invaded. Keep a sharp eye open for deceit. 

2:190. And fight in the Way of Allâh those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allâh likes not the transgressors. [This Verse is the first one that was revealed in connection with Jihâd, but it was supplemented by another (V.9:36)].

2:191. And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-al-Harâm (the sanctuary at Makkah), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

2:192. But if they cease, then Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2:193. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allâh) and (all and every kind of) worship is for Allâh (Alone). But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zâlimûn (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)

2:190 does not say those who attack you, it says those who fight you; in other words: those who resist your conquest. "The limits" means primarily  ghulul & flight in the face of the enemy.  Embezzlement of spoils is the second worst offense, exceeded only by abandoning jihad. Killing women, children and monks is prohibited not on moral grounds, but because they are  "property for Muslims" i.e. slaves.

    Examine the terminal conditions, highlighted in 2:193. Worship is for Allah alone.  Compare that verse to Surah Al-Anfal 8:39 which is obviously offensive, not defensive.

8:39. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allâh) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allâh Alone [in the whole of the world ]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allâh), then certainly, Allâh is All-Seer of what they do.

    Furthermore, the citation to Surah Al-Imran 3:139 is deceptive because of lack of context; read through 145 and compare it to  Surah Muhammad  47:35.

    Page 17 ends with an exhortation to fight. 

"Fellow Muslims, our struggle continues, to protect our state of affairs, to protect our faith, to defend Islam will always be a struggle, we struggle to spiritually uplift ourselves to that desired status, we want to be counted by Allah, we want to serve Him in the best way we can, but fellow Muslims, our religion is under attack. Learn how to respond and respond with power and might, you are a great nation after all. Allah says fear not man but Fear Me, fellow Believers our enemy is weak and we need to crush this weak enemy, we cannot be silent, action is required. If you are a True Believer you will defend the cause of Islam, everything you owe to Allah or have you forgotten your duty? The Enemies of Islam does not want us to have an Islamic State, they do not want us to govern our affairs by the Shariah of Allah, they fear the leadership of the Khalifah which is part of the foundation upon which the pillars of Islam rests, we cannot stress enough on the importance of Global Imamat (A Worldwide Leadership), with an Imam to make sure that the affairs of the Muslim Ummah are attended to in conformity to the Justice and Rule of Islamic Law, the minute you subscribe to learning the Quran so that you can try to understand it, the Kufaar (non-Muslims) they will call you a fundamentalist, an extremist, a terrorist, they don‟t want you to become a real Muslim, they want you to keep quiet, they want to silence and blind the Light of PURE ISLAM. The Enemies of Islam will lie to you about the matter of Amir ul Mumineen, they will say it was abolished, it ended! Authubillah! May Allah protect us from believing this falsehood."

    Well, wise guy, if  Attatu8rk did not dissolve the caliphate, who is the current caliph?

Bottom line

"We live in a brave new world of what was previously unimagined and unimaginable possibilities; fellow Believers our New World Order is such that it is based on Sublime Character and Distinctive Morality that will set the course of human history on a path of peace, tranquility, honor and dignity. Mankind will finally be free from a world of enslavement, it is our duty to protect the world from corruption and all forms of evilty, everyone, both Muslim and Non-Muslim deserve to live in a world that is safe and secure, Fellow Muslims the Holy Quran is the Declaration of Human Rights, if a Non-Muslim asks you regarding his or her rights under the Shariah of Allah, refer them to the Holy Quran as it clearly states their rights, freedoms and protection under the rule of the Khalifah. Fellow Believers we know very well that the enemies of Islam will always try to distort the Image of our beautiful religion, we know that they deceive their own people and they will do anything in their power to oppress and stop those who try and attempt a Revolution for real change, The Islamophobic Racists would kill and imprison their own people who dares to challenge their evil system of manipulation and greed, you can protest, go on a hunger strike, set yourself on fire in a demonstration, demand a revolution and you will fail because they will stop you because you are powerless, you will lose your dignity, your respect, your honor and soon they will call you the enemy. Turn to Allah and you will be successful… The Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran that He will not change the condition of a people unless they change that which is within themselves so REVIVE ISLAM WITHIN YOU!"

    Islam inverts everything.  Having four wives, divorcing them by triple talaq and raping captive women is a strange sort of morality. 'Marying' a six year old girl who has not reached puberty is hardly an exemplar of morality.  Waging genocidal conquest until "only Allah is worshiped" and Jews & Christians are humbled, subjugated & extorted is a great way to make peace, ain't it? 

Rights

    One hadith has powerful clues for you.  Pay particular attention to the emphasized clauses.  Your blood and property are not sacred to Muslims, you have no human rights and are subject of an open season. 

Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 8, Number 387:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Allah's Apostle said, "I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.' And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally and their reckoning will be with Allah." Narrated Maimun ibn Siyah that he asked Anas bin Malik, "O Abu Hamza! What makes the life and property of a person sacred?" He replied, "Whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah', faces our Qibla during the prayers, prays like us and eats our slaughtered animal, then he is a Muslim, and has got the same rights and obligations as other Muslims have."

Restrictions

    As a Christian dhimmi under the caliph, you are subject to the rules & regulations of the Pact of Umar. You can not pray aloud in public, hold processions, display crosses, ring bells or build and maintain churches. If you say anything negative about Islam you will be executed. Got a clue yet?

O11.5

Such non-Muslim subjects are obliged to comply with Islamic rules that pertain to the safety and indemnity of life, reputation, and property. In addition, they:

-1- are penalized for committing adultery or theft, thought not for drunkenness;

-2- are distinguished from Muslims in dress, wearing a wide cloth belt (zunnar);

-3- are not greeted with "as-Salamu 'alaykum";

-4- must keep to the side of the street;

-5- may not build higher than or as high as the Muslims' buildings, though if they acquire a tall house, it is not razed;

-6- are forbidden to openly display wine or pork, (A: to ring church bells or display crosses,) recite the Torah or Evangel aloud, or make public display of their funerals and feastdays;

-7- and are forbidden to build new churches.

 

O11.10

The agreement is also violated (A: with respect to the offender alone) if the state has stipulated that any of the following things break it, and one of the subjects does so anyway, though if the state has not stipulated that these break the agreement, then they do not; namely, if one of the subject people:

-1- commits adultery with a Muslim woman or marries her;

-2- conceals spies of hostile forces;

-3- leads a Muslim away from Islam;

-4- kills a Muslim;

-5- or mentions something impermissible about Allah, the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), or Islam.

Name Game

    This is not a function of al-Qaeda,. Muslim Brotherhood or any other subset of Islam: it is Islam!!! How do you hope to understand this fatal fact without reading the Qur'an, hadith and Shari'ah?  I have provided links to Islam's canon of scripture, tradition & jurisprudence in this blog post. I can lead you to information but I can't make you read it. 

    Allah commands conquest in 8:39 & 9:29 and he demands "great slaughter" in 8:67. In 9:120 he promises an upgrade in his celestial bordello for acts of terrorism. 

    Allah promises Muslims who join the jihad admission to his celestial bordello.  He threatens those who refuse with eternal damnation. 
Can you get a clue?  If you do get a clue, what will you do with it? 

    We have two possible options: preemptive nuclear attack or preemptive ideological attack.  Either we make them quit breathing, we make them quit believing, or they will conquer and enslave us. Which will it be? 

UN Counter Terrorism: Malignant Malarkey!

The United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy Review

    How does anyone expect to solve a serious problem without first identifying it and researching its cause?  The UN can not define terrorism because the OIC member states insist that Islamic attacks against Israel are "legitimate resistance", not terrorism.

    The draft resolution includes boiler plate common to many resolutions: 

Reaffirming also that terrorism cannot and should not be associated with any
religion, nationality, civilization or ethnic group, [Emphasis added.]

That statement is an inversion of truth and morality; part of the problem, not part of the solution.  Terrorism is not an enemy, it is a tactic. Whose tactic is it? 
Terrorism is associated with Islam because of egregious statements made in Islam's canon of scripture & tradition.  Examine the evidence: Allah said that he would cast terror into the hearts of disbelievers. 

• 3:151. We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they joined others in worship with Allâh, for which He had sent no authority; their abode will be the Fire and how evil is the abode of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong­doers)
  • Allah next conveys the good news that He will put fear of the Muslims, and feelings of subordination to the Muslims in the hearts of their disbelieving enemies, because of their Kufr and Shirk. And Allah has prepared torment and punishment for them in the Hereafter. [The Prohibition of Obeying the Disbelievers; the Cause of Defeat at Uhud]
• 8:12. (Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes."
  
  • I will cast fear, disgrace and humiliation over those who defied My command and denied My Messenger, [Allah commands the Angels to fight and support the Believers}

    Allah commanded Muslims to treat their victims harshly so as to terrify other prospective victims.

• 8:57. So if you gain the mastery over them in war, punish them severely in order to disperse those who are behind them, so that they may learn a lesson.
  • This Ayah commands punishing them harshly and inflicting casualties on them. This way, other enemies, Arabs and non-Arabs, will be afraid and take a lesson from their end, [Striking Hard against Those Who disbelieve and break the Covenants]

Other translators use more explicit terms.

    Another ayeh confirms this one, fitting hand in glove with it, warning other intended victims. 

• 59:2. He it is Who drove out the disbelievers among the people of the Scripture (i.e. the Jews of the tribe of Bani An-Nadir) from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think that they would get out. And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allah! But Allah's (Torment) reached them from a place whereof they expected it not, and He cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their own dwellings with their own hands and the hands of the believers. Then take admonition, O you with eyes (to see).

    Allah commanded Muslims to maximize military strength to terrify potential enemies. 

• 8:60. And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allah does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allah shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.

Other translators are more explicit.

    Allah cast terror, you have seen one example, another is more graphic concerning the consequences.

• 33:26. And those of the people of the Scripture who backed them (the disbelievers) Allâh brought them down from their forts and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and a group (of them) you made captives.
• 33:27. And He caused you to inherit their lands, and their houses, and their riches, and a land which you had not trodden (before). And Allâh is Able to do all things.
  • Those killed were the adult males of the settlement and those enslaved were the women and children.  [The Campaign against Banu Qurayzah]

    Allah promised a great reward to terrorists: extra credit towards an upgrade to their seats in his Celestial Bordello.

• 9:120. It was not becoming of the people of Al-Madinah and the bedouins of the neighbourhood to remain behind Allah's Messenger (Muhammad SAW when fighting in Allah's Cause) and (it was not becoming of them) to prefer their own lives to his life. That is because they suffer neither thirst nor fatigue, nor hunger in the Cause of Allah, nor they take any step to raise the anger of disbelievers nor inflict any injury upon an enemy but is written to their credit as a deed of righteousness. Surely, Allah wastes not the reward of the Muhsinun

Any step taken to injure or enrage a disbeliever is a "deed of righteousness".  On Judgment Day, Allah will weigh their sins against their good deeds. [7:8] [The Meaning of weighing the Deeds] The balance will determine their eternal destination: Celestial Bordello or fire.

    Muhammad was not silent concerning terrorism: he bragged about it.

• Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 7, Number 331:
  Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:
  The Prophet said, "I have been given five things which were not given to any one else before me.
  1. Allah made me victorious by awe, (by His frightening my enemies) for a distance of one month's journey.
  2. The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a thing to perform Tayammum, therefore anyone of my followers can pray wherever the time of a prayer is due.
  3. The booty has been made Halal (lawful) for me yet it was not lawful for anyone else before me.
  4. I have been given the right of intercession (on the Day of Resurrection).
  5. Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation only but I have been sent to all mankind.
• Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220:
   Narrated Abu Huraira:

      Allah's Apostle said, "I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror (cast in the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand." Abu Huraira added: Allah's Apostle has left the world and now you, people, are bringing out those treasures (i.e. the Prophet did not benefit by them).

    It is clear on the face of the Qur'an & hadith that terrorism is an intrinsic sacrament of Islam.  Allah said he would cast terror, cast terror and his messenger was made victorious with terror. During the reign of Zia ul-Haq, Brig. S.K. Malik wrote a strategy manual for the army of Pakistan.  Two quotes stand out like sore thumbs. 

This paragraph comes from the bottom of page 59. [Emphasis added.]

Terror struck into the hearts of the enemies is not only
a means, it is the end in itself. Once a condition of terror into
the opponent's heart is obtained, hardly anything is left to be
achieved. It is the point where the means and the end meet
and merge. Terror is not a means of imposing decision upon
the enemy; it is me decision we wish to impose upon him.

There is one necessary prerequisite for instilling terror: the destruction of our faith. Islam's strong faith shields Muslims from being terrorized. This paragraph comes from page 60. [Emphasis added.]

Terror cannot be struck into the hearts of an army by merely
 cutting its lines of communication or depriving it of its routes
of withdrawal. It is basically related to the strength or weakness
of the human soul. It can be instilled only if the opponent's
Faith is destroyed. Psychological dislocation is temporary;
spiritual dislocation is permanent. Psychological dislocation can be
produced by a physical act but this does not hold good of the
spiritual dislocation. To instill terror into the hearts of the enemy, 
it is essential. in the ultimate analysis, to dislocate his Faith. An
invincible Faith is immune to terror. A weak Faith offers inroads
to terror. The Faith conferred upon us by the Holy Qur'an has
the inherent strength to ward off terror from us and to enable
us to strike terror into the enemy. Whatever the form or type of
strategy directed against the enemy, it must, in order to be effective,
be capable of striking terror into the hearts of the enemy. A strategy
that fails to attain this condition suffers from inherent drawbacks
and weaknesses; and should be reviewed and modified. This rule
is fully applicable to nuclear as well as conventional wars. It is
equally true of the strategy of nuclear deterrence in fashion
today. To be credible and effective, the strategy of deterrence
must be capable of striking terror into the hearts of the enemy.

    Who created the association of Islam and terrorism?  The texts leave no doubt: Muhammad deliberately cultivated a reputation for barbarian rapine in the hope  of so terrifying his victims that they would surrender without a fight.  The Qur'anic Concept of War   shows us that  the association continues in modern times.

    In his last instructions to the Magnificent Nineteen, Mohamed Atta wrote: "When the confrontation begins, strike like champions who do not want to go back to this world. Shout, 'Allahu Akbar,' because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers." [http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/sep/30/terrorism.september113]  Can anyone forget the words from the cockpit voice recorder? 

    The United Nations denies the identity of the enemy and its use of terrorism as a battle tactic. Instead, it seeks to conceal the fatal facts.   It is not sincerely interested in solving the problem of escalating terrorism; the UN is part of the problem, not part of the solution. 

Open Letter to the Students and Faculty of West Point

 Ladies and gentlemen:

    Greetings from a citizen 4F & 1Y both unable and disinclined to serve as you are doing or preparing to do.  I am no more than a web warrior, and satisfied with this status.  Thank you for your service to our country. May Almighty God hold you in his protective grip and keep you out of harms way, shield you and make you victorious. 

    Last week, one of your number searched Google for information relating to Muslims lying to non-Muslims.  My guess is that the searcher wanted information about the Islamic doctrine of Al-Taqiyya, but due to the vagaries of the search engine algorithms, was served up my post about a video debate between Pamela Geller and a lying Muslim.  I doubt that my blog post met the searcher's need.

    Al-taqiyya literally means to protect; to prevent harm to the individual Muslim and to Islam. It is derived from Surah Al-Imran 3:28.

3:28. Let not the believers take the disbelievers as Auliyâ (supporters, helpers, etc.) instead of the believers, and whoever does that will never be helped by Allâh in any way, except if you indeed fear a danger from them. And Allâh warns you against Himself (His Punishment), and to Allâh is the final return.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir has a fairly loquacious explanation of that verse; I will quote a relevant fragment. 

(unless you indeed fear a danger from them) meaning, except those believers who in some areas or times fear for their safety from the disbelievers. In this case, such believers are allowed to show friendship to the disbelievers outwardly, but never inwardly. For instance, Al-Bukhari recorded that Abu Ad-Darda' said, "We smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them.''     You should, at minimum read Surahs Al-Anfal & At-Taubah of the Qur'an.  To discover how Muhammad interpreted what he revealed, turn to the authentic hadith collection of Bukhari and read the books of jihad, khumus & expedition.  If you have difficulty understanding the Qur'an or can't take the time to wade through all those sayings, reading Tafsir Ibn Kathir is a good alternative. I will give you the starting points, skip over the Arabic script and use the navigation buttons at the top of each page.

    Shari'ah or Islamic law is a deep and complex subject and controversial.  Fortunately for you, the laws of jihad which you need to know about are a relatively small part of it.  I want you to read, at a minimum, Reliance of the Traveller, Book O, Chapter 9 from O9.0 through O9.14.  That is the code of the Shafi'i school, the Hanifi school has some differences and also adds some clarity though the type face is antique and the vocabulary is arcane & archaic. Read at minimum the first two pages of Hedaya, Volume II, Book IX, Chapter 1. Read as much more as you have time for and can tolerate. 

    For those who are swamped and need the "Cliff Notes" version: my blog post entitled "What You Need to Know About Islam" contains the two most vital parts of Reliance and an outline containing links to the ayat and ahadith you really need to read.    My post entitled "What's Wrong With Islam & Muslims ?" hits the high points with a bit more detail.

    The experts will tell you to read the Sira & Tahrik. It is possible that "The Life of Muhammad" and Volumes 6-9 of Tabari's History may be in your library, I would bet against it.  I have a secret for you: The "In His Own Words" appendix of "The Prophet of Doom" has the most important quotes from those books along with related ayat & ahadith.

Islamic law (Sharia) on Jihad from Reliance of the Traveler:

O-9.8: The Objectives of Jihad

The caliph (o-25) makes war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians (N: provided he has first invited them to enter Islam in faith and practice, and if they will not, then invited them to enter the social order of Islam by paying the non-Muslim poll tax (jizya, def: o-11.4) -which is the significance of their paying it, not the money itself-while remaining in their ancestral religions) (O: and the war continues) until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax (O: in accordance with the word of Allah Most High,
"Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and who forbid not what Allah and His messenger have forbidden-who do not practice the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book-until they pay the poll tax out of hand and are humbled" (Koran 9.29),
the time and place for which is before the final descent of Jesus (upon whom be peace). After his final coming, nothing but Islam will be accepted from them, for taking the poll tax is only effective until Jesus' descent (upon him and our Prophet be peace), which is the divinely revealed law of Muhammad. The coming of Jesus does not entail a separate divinely revealed law, for he will rule by the law of Muhammad. As for the Prophet's saying (Allah bless him and give him peace),
"I am the last, there will be no prophet after me,"
this does not contradict the final coming of Jesus (upon whom be peace), since he will not rule according to the Evangel, but as a follower of our Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) ).

The caliph fights all other peoples until they become Muslim (O: because they are not a people with a Book, nor honored as such, and are not permitted to settle with paying the poll tax (jizya) ) (n: though according to the Hanafi school, peoples of all other religions, even idol worshippers, are permitted to live under the protection of the Islamic state if they either become Muslim or agree to pay the poll tax, the sole exceptions to which are apostates from Islam and idol worshippers who are Arabs, neither of whom has any choice but becoming Muslim (al-Hidaya sharh Bidaya al-mubtadi' (y-21), 6.48-49) ).

Why? Because that is what Allah commanded and Muhammad exemplified.  The citations below are to the Qur'an and three Hadith collections, all of which are available on the web at a site maintained by the Muslim Student Association at the University of Southern California.     Ibn Sa'd's Sira is less well known, but very informative. What's Wrong With Islam/Muslims? [This blog post has received 4537 views since it was published four years ago.  Since then, links have been broken by web site changes and new resources have been found.  This post was therefore supplanted by a new page, but it continues to get the hits while the new page does not.  I have therefore updated this post, repairing broken links and adding a few, notably to Ibn Sad's Sira and The Sealed Nectar to make more detailed information available to the reader.  ]

Mercenary Mission

    Islam was contrived for the purpose of its founder's personal emolument & empowerment through accrual of spoils & dominion through perpetual war.  Three ayat in Surah Al-Anfal make this matter crystal clear.  Four ahadith confirm it beyond all doubt. [Emphasis added for clarity.]

8:1. They ask you (O Muhammad ) about the spoils of war. Say: "The spoils are for Allâh and the Messenger." So fear Allâh and adjust all matters of difference among you, and obey Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad ), if you are believers.

    The spoils are for Allah and Moe; how many stolen sheep, camels & dates can an impotent stone idol eat?  How many captured women can it rape?

8:41. And know that whatever of war-booty that you may gain, verily one-fifth (1/5th) of it is assigned to Allâh, and to the Messenger, and to the near relatives [of the Messenger (Muhammad )], (and also) the orphans, Al-Masâkin (the poor) and the wayfarer, if you have believed in Allâh and in that which We sent down to Our slave (Muhammad ) on the Day of criterion (between right and wrong), the Day when the two forces met (the battle of Badr) - And Allâh is Able to do all things.

 

8:67. It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allâh desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

Allah wants genocide: "great slaughter", Moe wants ransom money.  One ahadith omitted from Khan's translation of Sahih Bukhari speaks volumes about Moe's arrogance & avarice, I quote from Aisha Bewley's translation.

Bukhari  Ch 61 # 2756: ...It is mentioned from Ibn 'Umar from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, "My provision has been placed under the shadow of my spear, and abasement and humility have been placed on the one who disobeys my command.

Moe got his income with his spear: by raiding camel caravans and Jewish settlements. Later we will see Moe's 'command' and the threat he made in conjunction with it.   Allah gave Moe a special privilege not given to anyone else: accrual of spoils. 

3. The booty has been made Halal (lawful) for me yet it was not lawful for anyone else before me. [Sahih Bukhari 1.7.331]

 

Sahih Muslim Book 019, Number 4327:
The spoils of war were not made lawful for any people before us, This is because Allah saw our weakness and humility and made them lawful for us.

    Allah was very generous: he gave Moe the keys to the treasures of the world and he made Moe wealthy through conquests. 

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220:
 Narrated Abu Huraira:

    Allah's Apostle said, "I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror (cast in the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand." Abu Huraira added: Allah's Apostle has left the world and now you, people, are bringing out those treasures (i.e. the Prophet did not benefit by them).

Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 37, Number 495:

    Narrated Abu Huraira:

    Whenever a dead man in debt was brought to Allah's Apostle he would ask, "Has he left anything to repay his debt?" If he was informed that he had left something to repay his debts, he would offer his funeral prayer, otherwise he would tell the Muslims to offer their friend's funeral prayer. When Allah made the Prophet wealthy through conquests, he said, "I am more rightful than other believers to be the guardian of the believers, so if a Muslim dies while in debt, I am responsible for the repayment of his debt, and whoever leaves wealth (after his death) it will belong to his heirs. "

Violence

 

Islam is aggressively violent, by design; irreparably. I quote Islamic law.

As for subsequent times, there are two possible states in respect to non-Muslims.The first is when they are in their own countries, in which case jihad (def: o9.8) is a communal obligation, and this is what our author is speaking of when he says, “Jihad is a communal obligation,” meaning upon the Muslims each year.[Reliance of the Traveller, Book O9.1]

Jihad is something  Muslims must do against non-Muslims every year. Exactly what is it?

Between  1779 and 1815, the Barbary pirates were attacking America’s merchant marine, seizing boats, enslaving their crews and stealing cargo. They demanded payment of tribute for safe passage.

In 1786 Jefferson and John Adams went to negotiate with Tripoli’s envoy to London, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman or (Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). They asked him by what right he extorted money and took slaves. Jefferson reported to Secretary of State John Jay, and to the Congress:

The ambassador answered us that [the right] was founded on the Laws of the Prophet (Mohammed), that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have answered their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman (or Muslim) who should be slain in battle was sure to go to heaven. [3]

Allah said:

8:39. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allâh) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allâh Alone [in the whole of the world ]….

9:29.Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allâh, (2) nor in the Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allâh and His Messenger (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islâm) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

Muhammad said:

“I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.’ And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally and their reckoning will be with Allah.“ Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 8, Number 387

Caliph Umar’s general told the Persians:

…Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, has ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah Alone or give Jizya (i.e. tribute); and our Prophet has informed us that our Lord says:– “Whoever amongst us is killed (i.e. martyred), shall go to Paradise to lead such a luxurious life as he has never seen, and whoever amongst us remain alive, shall become your master.”… Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 53, Number 386

Compare the answer of Sidi Haji Abdrahaman to Bukhari4.53.386:

Terrorism

    Allah said that he would cast terror & did cast terror. Allah commanded Moe to treat victims harshly so as to terrorize other prospective victims and build up military strength to threaten and terrify them.  Allah said that the local Jews were more afraid of Moe and his army than of himself. Moe said that he was made victorious with terror.  Allah, ever generous to his slaves, guarantees them extra credit towards an upgrade in his Celestial Bordello for any step taken to injure or enrage us.

• Mis-translation.
  • I do not know a word of Arabic; can’t read a single character of it. Hilali & Khan translated the Qur’an quotes cited above with the exception of the one by Rodwell.     • Below is what Al-Ghazali actually wrote about jihad war, and the treatment of the vanquished non-Muslim dhimmi peoples (from the Wagjiz, written in 1101 A.D.): …one must go on jihad (i.e., warlike razzias or raids) at least once a year…one may use a catapult against them [non-Muslims] when they are in a fortress, even if among them are women and children. One may set fire to them and/or drown them…If a person of the Ahl al-Kitab [People of The Book - Jews and Christians, typically] is enslaved, his marriage is [automatically] revoked…One may cut down their trees…One must destroy their useless books. Jihadists may take as booty whatever they decide…they may steal as much food as they need…

What’s Wrong With Muslims?

If they believe and are faithful, they obey Allah’s commands by joining the Jihad, striving hard with their lives and their wealth. If not called to fight, they support Jihad with Zakat. How did the Holy Land Foundation raise $13M for Hamas?

8:2.  The believers are only those who, when Allâh is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur’ân) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone);

49:15. Only those are the believers who have believed in Allâh and His Messenger, and afterward doubt not but strive with their wealth and their lives for the Cause of Allâh. Those! They are the truthful.

61:10. O You who believe! Shall I guide you to a commerce that will save you from a painful torment.

61:11.  That you believe in Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad ), and that you strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allâh with your wealth and your lives, that will be better for you, if you but know!

61:12. (If you do so) He will forgive you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow, and pleasant dwelling in Gardens of ‘Adn ­ Eternity ['Adn (Edn) Paradise], that is indeed the great success.

61:13. And also (He will give you) another (blessing) which you love, help from Allâh (against your enemies) and a near victory. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad ) to the believers.

What is the relationship between Allah & Muslims?

9:111. Verily, Allâh has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties; for the price that theirs shall be the Paradise. They fight in Allâh’s Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed. It is a promise in truth which is binding on Him in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and the Qur’ân. And who is truer to his covenant than Allâh? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. That is the supreme success .

That’s what Muslims do; they kill.  That’s what’s wrong with Muslims: they worship and obey a bloodthirsty demon who commands them to subjugate us.

Objections:

• I have Muslim friends; nice people, well behaved.
  • Muslims are explicitly commanded, in several ayat, not to befriend Kuffar. I will cite one of them.
  • 60:1. O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies (i.e. disbelievers and polytheists, etc.) as friends, showing affection towards them, while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism, this Qur’ân, and Muhammad ), and have driven out the Messenger (Muhammad ) and yourselves (from your homeland) because you believe in Allâh your Lord! If you have come forth to strive in My Cause and to seek My Good Pleasure, (then take not these disbelievers and polytheists, etc., as your friends). You show friendship to them in secret, while I am All-Aware of what you conceal and what you reveal. And whosoever of you (Muslims) does that, then indeed he has gone (far) astray, (away) from the Straight Path .
• Most Muslims don’t engage in Jihad.
  • Yet. They haven’t been called by their Imam or Mullah. The Ummah is large and the battlefronts are relatively small. Once a sufficient number have answered the call, the rest are relieved unless an emergency occurs.

      Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas:

      The Prophet said, on the day of the Conquest of Mecca, “There is no migration (after the Conquest), but Jihad and good intentions, andwhen you are called for Jihad, you should immediately respond to the call.”

      The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: He who does not join the warlike expedition (jihad), or equip, or looks well after a warrior’s family when he is away, will be smitten by Allah with a sudden calamity. Yazid ibn Abdu Rabbihi said in his tradition: ‘before the Day of Resurrection”.
• Jihad is the Muslim's struggle against his ego and temptations.

    Narrated Anas ibn Malik:

    The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Three things are the roots of faith: to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, “There is no god but Allah” and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits, and not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist). The tyranny of any tyrant and the justice of any just (ruler) will not invalidate it. One must have faith in Divine decree.

    Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:

    I heard the Apostle of Allah, (peace_be_upon_him) say: When you enter into the inah transaction, hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture, and give up conducting jihad (struggle in the way of Allah). Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion.
