A new year has begun. A time for fresh beginnings, New Year’s resolutions, weight loss, smoking cessation, promises of rigorous exercise, eating healthy foods…

The list is endless. How would you make yourself over, if you really could? What would you try to do differently in 2010?

Perhaps you would take better care of your house, your cars. Maybe you would spend more time in the garden doing the hated weeding. You might promise to watch less television and utilize your free time wisely, with a good book, for example.

May we make a radical suggestion? It is simply this: Value the one who means the most to you in life. Love that one with all your heart now. Find time to be near to her/him this very moment, while you yet have time. Our life does not last forever.

Take a few seconds to reflect. What would your life be like, if the one who means the most to you were now gone, today, right this very second?

Well, first of all, there would be no communication. You could not talk together. This means, all the comforting times of just hearing the other’s voice, the assurance that she/he cared, the chance to talk through differences of opinion or misunderstandings from the past, all this would suddenly be gone. Silence, instead of the voice you knew. No phone will ring, at the time she/he would call.

Just silence.

In the past, as you walked together, you may have held hands. If so, you felt close. Your fingers intertwined. You shared the warmth of the other.

Now you walk alone.

You may have danced together in locales you enjoyed. You had your favorite songs. If the music invigorated you, you smiled and moved quickly in time to the beat. If the song was slow and romantic, you held the other close, moved together without even having to think. You knew what the other would do, how he/she would react. You simply flowed with the music.

Now you do not dance at all. Or, if you do, you discover that a black pall hangs over all the places you frequented together. You look around, search for the other. No one is there.

You may have traveled together to special places, areas which you and the other knew intimately. You visited the stores, bought souvenirs or mementoes, ate lunch at restaurants you can still remember. You can even find the place where you last stayed.

Now you are alone. The sunshine of August has been replaced by the rains of January. The warmth of the summer sun has been superceded by a cold wind blowing in from the sea.

You look up at the rain. Your tears of regret mingle with the raindrops from the sky.

You stand alone in the pouring rain.

Tchaikovsky knew the despondency that comes from a severed relationship, one broken by our mistakes or by the finality of death. He states in None But the Lonely Heart that the loneliness he felt separated him from joy and gladness, to the degree that his senses failed and a burning fire devoured him. Our senses are alive, quickened, when we are with the one we love, but heartache seems to deaden our reactions to even lively stimuli. Instead, we feel consumed, perhaps by regret, at being unable to undo that which separated us.

If we try to reach out to others during these times of isolation, we soon learn that few have the time, fewer the inclination to help those experiencing heartache. All are busy with their own lives, their own activities, priorities. The heartfelt cry of the one alone is rarely heard at all. And even if heard, such a cry is too complex, others feel, too bothersome, to warrant an attempt at help.

And so the one alone remains alone.

Are you alone today? If so, only you and others like you will understand what we say here. Or, as Tchaikovsky phrased it,

None but the lonely heart
Can know my sadness.

As the New Year dawns, let us resolve to value that relationship which means the most to us, to fight to keep it intact, while there is yet time. If misunderstandings keep us apart, let us do everything possible to resolve our differences, while there is still time to make positive changes.

Those of us who are believers, Christians, can take solace in the words of Isaiah, quoted by Jesus and applied to Himself:

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because…He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…

May 2010 be the year in which we bind up the brokenhearted and proclaim the Lord’s favor. How much better that would be than to leave each other alone.

Obamination: Flight 253 Part 1

On Dec. 28, '09, President Obama made a statement about the attempt to destroy Flight 253, adding remarks about the uprising in Iran. I quote the remarks about the terror attack, interspersing my comments.

THE PRESIDENT: Hey, guys. Good morning, everybody. I just want to take a few minutes to update the American people on the attempted terrorist attack that occurred on Christmas Day and the steps we're taking to ensure the safety and security of the country.

The safety and security of the USA can not be ensured short of the total and complete elimination of the enemy which seeks to harm us. Obamination is not taking any steps to reach that strategic objective.

The investigation is ongoing and I spoke again this morning with Attorney General Eric Holder, the Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, and my Counterterrorism and Homeland Security Advisor John Brennan. I asked them to keep -- continue monitoring the situation, to keep the American people and members of Congress informed.

Investigations only waste precious time and money. We already know that the perpetrator is a Muslim engaged in an act of Jihad. Nothing more need to be known. Islamic doctrine and law require a continuing series of attacks against disbelievers until the entire world is conquered and subjugated. Eliminating Islam is the only solution to this problem. There is no other way to prevent Islam from attacking us.

Here's what we know so far. On Christmas Day, Northwest Airlines Flight 253 was en route from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Detroit. As the plane made its final approach to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, a passenger allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device on his body, setting off a fire.

Allegedly? Sweet loving Jesus Christ! A photograph of the remains of the perpetrator's underwear have been posted on the web! The explosive material has been identified. He did not attempt to ignite the explosive, he attempted to detonate it and only succeeded in igniting it. If the detonation had been successful, Obamination would be assuring us that the crash resulted from an accident, not from enemy action.

Thanks to the quick and heroic actions of passengers and crew, the suspect was immediately subdued, the fire was put out, and the plane landed safely. The suspect is now in custody and had been charged with attempting to destroy an aircraft. And a full investigation has been launched into this attempted act of terrorism and we will not rest until we find all who were involved and hold them accountable.

Thanks to the failure of the detonating device & methodology, the bomb burned instead of exploding. Had the device functioned as designed, no intervention would have been possible; the entire aircraft would have been destroyed, with the lives of all aboard and perhaps many deaths and much property damage on the ground.

Why in Hell is the perpetrator charged as a criminal offender when his ignition of the device was an act of war? Why is he being given a lawyer, a trial and the rights, privileges & immunities of a citizen, which he does not deserve? Why was he not given a bullet lubricated in lard and a shroud made from pig skin which he richly deserves? Because we elected a traitor instead of a President, that's why!

This was a serious reminder of the dangers that we face and the nature of those who threaten our homeland. Had the suspect succeeded in bringing down that plane it could have killed nearly 300 passengers and crew, innocent civilians preparing to celebrate the holidays with their families and friends.

What dangers do we face? Who threatens us? Why do they threaten us? Why won't Obamination provide clear and specific answers to these foundational interrogatories? We are threatened with the imposition of a series of injuries & insults, resulting in bleeding our society to death and impoverishing it; destroying our will and ability to resist subjugation & enslavement.

Islam threatens us. Not extremists; not radicals; not a tiny minority: Islam! No elected politician will acknowledge the fact that orthodox Islamic doctrine, exegeses, tradition & law require the conquest and subjugation of the entire world. They will not bother to go to Wikipedia and look up the Barbary War, in which entry they will find a clear and concise explanation of why Muslims attacked us, beginning in the 18^th century. They won't read the Qur'an & hadith, where they would learn the same truth nor will they read Reliance of the Traveller. Instead they will waste millions of dollars on investigations that will settle nothing.

The American people should be assured that we are doing everything in our power to keep you and your families safe and secure during this busy holiday season. Since I was first notified of this incident I've ordered the following actions to be taken to protect the American people and to secure air travel.

We can only be secured by eliminating Islam from the face of the earth. The doctrines which require Muslims to attack us must cease to be propagated and believed. For every new security measure you put in effect, Islam will devise a counter measure or work around. If you want to keep our flights safe and secure, then keep Muslims on the ground, off those flights. Prohibiting Muslims from flying to or over our territory would be much more practical than the Mickey Mouse security procedures which hamper and harass fliers.

First, I directed that we take immediate steps to ensure the safety of the traveling public. We made sure that all flights still in the air were secure and could land safely. We immediately enhanced screening and security procedures for all flights, domestic and international. We added federal air marshals to flights entering and leaving the United States. And we're working closely in this country -- federal, state and local law enforcement -- with our international partners.

You did not ban Muslims from aircraft. You did nothing beneficial. You have no means to detect a suppository or bolus inside a bomber's body. Air marshals can not do anything to stop a bomb from going off once the detonator is engaged. This is war, not a criminal case. Yemen, Saudi Arabia, etc. are not our partners or allies, they are our enemies. They oppose terrorists seeking to dethrone them and support terrorists seeking to destroy us.

Second, I've ordered two important reviews because it's absolutely critical that we learn from this incident and take the necessary measures to prevent future acts of terrorism. The first review involves our watch list system, which our government has had in place for many years to identify known and suspected terrorists so that we can prevent their entry into the United States.

Why did you not learn from Project Bojinka? Why did you not learn from Richard Reid? Why did you not learn from the plan to hide bombs in baby bottles? You will never learn because you have no desire to learn. You are a traitor, one of the enemy in our midst, improperly elected to high office, of which you are most undeserving.

If they are Muslim, they are potential terrorists, and there is no way to differentiate the real from the potential until they explode. Their entry can best be prevented by a total and permanent ban on the entry of Muslims. Keep them off of airplanes, ships and trains. It is that simple. If they have the word Muslim on their passport or identity card, if they come from a nation with a significant Muslim population or if they have a Muslim name, they better damn well have proof of active membership in a passive religion or they can stay home.

Google their names. Read their web postings. Read any books they have published. Check their resumes. Interview their families and associates. But, in the present case, the perpetrator's father warned you, and you still let him board that aircraft!

Apparently the suspect in the Christmas incident was in the system, but not on a watch list such as the so-called no-fly list. So I've ordered a thorough review not only of how information related to the subject was handled, but of the overall watch list system and how it can be strengthened.

If you had any sense, and were not a traitor, there would be one list, with the name of every Muslim in the world on it, and they would not be allowed to fly to or over our territory. There is no other solution to the problem of attacks on aircraft by passengers.

The second review will examine all screening policies, technologies and procedures related to air travel. We need to determine just how the suspect was able to bring dangerous explosives aboard an aircraft and what additional steps we can take to thwart future attacks.

There has already been a shoe bomb and an underwear bomb. One terrorist in Saudi Arabia swallowed his bomb. Bombs could be inserted rectally or surgically implanted. If you had any desire to prevent aircraft bombings, you'd exclude Muslims from all flights to and over America.

Third, I've directed my national security team to keep up the pressure on those who would attack our country. We do not yet have all the answers about this latest attempt, but those who would slaughter innocent men, women and children must know that the United States will do more than simply strengthen our defenses -- we will continue to use every element of our national power to disrupt, to dismantle, and defeat the violent extremists who threaten us -- whether they are from Afghanistan or Pakistan, Yemen or Somalia, or anywhere where they are plotting attacks against the U.S. homeland.

The set of terrorists is the set of persons who believe that the Qur'an is the perfect, timeless & immutable revealed word of Allah; who have submitted to Allah and seek to emulate his Messenger. The set of terrorists is Al-Ummah Al-Islamia. Can you kill 1.3 billion Muslims, dispersed all over the world and mixed in with innocent people? Are you willing to do it? Then sit down and shut up!

Are you able and willing to implement a mass media attack on the doctrines of Islam? Are you able and willing to initiate press, television, film and satellite broadcast missions to induce mass apostasy & conversion of Muslims?

Those are the two possibilities; there is no other solution. Which one are you preparing to implement? Are you willing to kill the top terrorist leaders and bomb their funeral processions, bombing those of the terrorists killed, until the recalcitrant true believers are eliminated? Then what the Hell will you do? You have no solution, you have only diversions from objective factual reality. Your diversions waste precious time and money and accomplish nothing of value.

Finally, the American people should remain vigilant, but also be confident. Those plotting against us seek not only to undermine our security, but also the open society and the values that we cherish as Americans. This incident, like several that have preceded it demonstrates that an alert and courageous citizenry are far more resilient than an isolated extremist. As a nation we will do everything in our power to protect our country, as Americans we will never give in to fear or division, we will be guided by our hopes, our unity, and our deeply held values. That's who we are as Americans. And that's what our brave men and women in uniform are standing up for as they spend the holidays in harm's way, and we will continue to do everything that we can to keep America safe in the New Year and beyond.

Terror attacks are designed to disrupt society. They intend to induce panic & paralysis. They intend to cause distrust and paranoia. They intend to bleed us to death financially.

Terror attacks are asymmetrical warfare, yet they are still warfare. We, too have a means of asymmetrical warfare; it was put to very good use about one year before I was born. If you are not willing to use it, you are not willing to keep the lamp of liberty lit; you are willing to waste the all the investment in blood and treasure that has kept this nation free for more than 230 years. Hiroshima & Nagasaki have much to teach you, Mr. President.

Obamination Flight 253 Part 2

On December 31, '09, President Obama issued this press release:

This morning, I spoke with John Brennan about preliminary assessments from the ongoing consultations I have ordered into the human and systemic failures that occurred leading up to the attempted act of terrorism on Christmas Day and about our government-wide efforts at continued vigilance on homeland security and counterterrorism efforts. In a separate call, I spoke with Sec. Napolitano to receive an update on both the Department of Homeland Security review of detection capabilities and the enhanced security measures in place since the Christmas Day incident.

I anticipate receiving assessments from several agencies this evening and will review those tonight and over the course of the weekend. On Tuesday, in Washington, I will meet personally with relevant agency heads to discuss our ongoing reviews as well as security enhancements and intelligence-sharing improvements in our homeland security and counterterrorism operations.

NOTE: John Brennan is Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism.

Big deal. President Obama consulted with his experts. No heads rolled. Nobody did anything realistic to prevent another attack. There is no practical way to detect bombs swallowed, inserted or surgically implanted. Are we going to put MRI scanners in every airport and run every passenger through them? How much would that cost and how long would that take?: How about we just scan the Muslims?

I have a better idea. Just keep Muslims off all flights to or over our territory. Clip Their Wings.

It has now been more than a week since the attempted act of terrorism aboard that flight to Detroit on Christmas Day. On Thursday, I received the preliminary findings of the reviews that I ordered into our terrorist watchlist system and air travel screening. I've directed my counterterrorism and homeland security advisor at the White House, John Brennan, to lead these reviews going forward and to present the final results and recommendations to me in the days to come.

As I said this week, I will do everything in my power to make sure our hard-working men and women in our intelligence, law enforcement and homeland security communities have the tools and resources they need to keep America safe. This includes making sure these communities-and the people in them-are coordinating effectively and are held accountable at every level. And as President, that is what I will do.

Months passed between the arrests of two previous underwear bombers and the warning issued by the terrorist's father yet you did not modify our screening procedures and you did not put the bomber on the no fly list. Do those failures result from incompetence, treason or both? I think the law of multiple causation applies to this case.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the Christmas Day incident continues, and we're learning more about the suspect. We know that he traveled to Yemen, a country grappling with crushing poverty and deadly insurgencies. It appears that he joined an affiliate of al Qaeda, and that this group-al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula-trained him, equipped him with those explosives and directed him to attack that plane headed for America.

This is not the first time this group has targeted us. In recent years, they have bombed Yemeni government facilities and Western hotels, restaurants and embassies-including our embassy in 2008, killing one American. So, as President, I've made it a priority to strengthen our partnership with the Yemeni government-training and equipping their security forces, sharing intelligence and working with them to strike al Qaeda terrorists.

Islamic tyrannies are not our partners nor allies; they are our enemies. Allah explicitly forbids friendship/partnership with disbelievers in several Qur'an verses. Those tyrants are interested in their own tenure on the throne, not in our security or survival. While they fight al-Qaeda at home, they sponsor al-Qaeda attacks against us.

And even before Christmas Day, we had seen the results. Training camps have been struck; leaders eliminated; plots disrupted. And all those involved in the attempted act of terrorism on Christmas must know-you too will be held to account.

Terrorists are a fungible commodity; they can be replaced. Ushering them into Hell after an attack does not reverse the attack nor does it prevent future attacks. You must eliminate the current terrorists and their recruitment base. There will not be peace and security on this earth while there are Muslims on it.

But these efforts are only part of a wider cause. It's been nearly a year since I stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and took the oath of office as your President. And with that oath came the solemn responsibility that I carry with me every moment of every day-the responsibility to protect the safety and security of the American people.

On that day I also made it very clear-our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred, and that we will do whatever it takes to defeat them and defend our country, even as we uphold the values that have always distinguished America among nations.

The entity which is waging war against us is Islam. Why won't you identify it by name and honestly describe its doctrines and practices? Muslims are persistent. They are motivated by a demonic promise of carnal reward in the after life if they die in an attempt to kill or conquer us. They are motivated by a demonic threat of eternal Hellfire if they refuse to go to war against us.

To stop Muslims from attacking us, you must either cause them to cease being Muslims or cease living. Nothing less will stop their series of attacks. You can not pacify or appease them and you can't change their doctrine. Our treasury was drained in tribute to the Barbary Pirates before President Jefferson wised up and sent toe Marines to Tripoli. Get a clue.

And make no mistake, that's exactly what we've been doing. It's why I refocused the fight-bringing to a responsible end the war in Iraq, which had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, and dramatically increasing our resources in the region where al Qaeda is actually based, in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It's why I've set a clear and achievable mission-to disrupt, dismantle and defeat al Qaeda and its extremist allies and prevent their return to either country.

The war against Iraq can not come to a responsible end while its citizens and government remain Islamic. While they are Muslims, they are our enemies; they will return to membership in the set of terror sponsoring states. There is no other possibility. You have not won that war, you have lost it. You have wasted invaluable blood and treasure.

The hijackers were trained at a special facility in Salman Pak. Al-Qaeda also received CBW training from Saddam Hussein's regime. In 1993, a truck bomb was detonated in the World Trade Center. Who mixed the chemicals for that bomb? Where did he receive sanctuary after the attack? Where did the terrorist behind the hijacking of the Achille Lauro receive sanctuary? These words of yours, juxtaposed with those words about Iraq, prove you to be a lying traitor.

And it's why we've forged new partnerships, as in Yemen, and put unrelenting pressure on these extremists wherever they plot and train-from East Africa to Southeast Asia, from Europe to the Persian Gulf. And though often out of sight, our progress has been unmistakable. Along with our partners, we've disrupted terrorist financing, cut off recruiting chains, inflicted major losses on al Qaeda's leadership, thwarted plots here in the United States, and saved countless American lives.

Any disbeliever who thinks he has Muslim partners is actually a useful idiot, being manipulated by Muslims. Muslims do not form partnerships with disbelievers. You did not save any lives Dec. 25, blind luck saved 277. Your idiotic policies damn near cost 277 lives, but we got lucky that day.

Terrorists are believers, not extremists. To comprehend this fatal fact, read the following ayat. The connecting word is spend, it is what believers do. They spend in Allah's cause. What do they spend? Read 9:120 and re-read it until you get a clue.

Allah's cause is making Islam dominant. The imperative is issued in 9:33 and exemplified in Sahih Bukhari 4.52.65.

Yet as the Christmas Day attempt illustrates, and as we were reminded this week by the sacrifices of more brave Americans in Afghanistan-including those seven dedicated men and women of the CIA-the hard work of protecting our nation is never done. So as our reviews continue, let us ask the questions that need to be asked. Let us make the changes that need to be made. Let us debate the best way to protect the country we all love. That is the right and responsibility of every American and every elected official.

Those CIA agents murdered by a suicide bomber died because they were told by a traitor that they have Muslim allies. They died because the Muslim allied with them was a double agent and they, in their blind faith, trusted him enough not to check him for bombs before meeting with him.

But as we go forward, let us remember this-our adversaries are those who would attack our country, not our fellow Americans, not each other. Let's never forget what has always carried us through times of trial, including those attacks eight Septembers ago.

What is the nationality of Maj. Nidal Malik Hassan? Were the men and women he shot his fellow Americans? Was he their fellow American? Do you think with your anal sphincter instead of your brain? Do you imagine in your arrogant conceit that we are too stupid to think clearly enough to detect your lies? Maj. Hassan's nationality is Muslim. He is a member of Ummah-al-Islamiya, not an American yet he was a member of our armed forces and was treated as a citizen. Get a clue for Chrissake.

Three thousand people were not carried through the Abomination; they were crushed and burned to death. Your moronic platitudes induce incontinence.

Instead of giving in to fear and cynicism, let's renew that timeless American spirit of resolve and confidence and optimism. Instead of succumbing to partisanship and division, let's summon the unity that this moment demands. Let's work together, with a seriousness of purpose, to do what must be done to keep our country safe.

As we begin this New Year, I cannot imagine a more fitting resolution to guide us-as a people and as a nation.

To make our nation safe, we need to exclude the enemy fifth column from it. We need to get rid of Islam, on a national and global scope. Because you are a politician, you can not acknowledge that need and seek to divert our attention from it.

Ralph Peters: Lying to Ourselves

One of my Google Alerts brought an important article to my attention: Lying to ourselves by Ralph Peters. Peters points out the fact that our leadership lies to us, refusing to connect terrorism to the Islamic doctrines from which it flows.

While I am generally in agreement with what Peters is communicating in his article, I have a problem with one quote I have excerpted.

Spoiled brats remade their god in their own vengeful image. And we have to kill them. This one really is a zero-sum game.

Islamic terrorism, perpetrated by college graduates more than twenty years of age is not juvenile delinquency. The perpetrators may be economically advantaged, and they may be malcontents, but terrorism is not a function of social adjustment; it is a function of doctrines intrinsic to Islam.

The idea that terrorists distort Allah is another problem. They did not re-write the Qur'an. Allah said that he would cast terror, and said that he did cast terror, leading to death, dispossession and destruction. Moe bragged that he was made victorious by terror. Therefore, the suggestion that terrorism is a modern innovation is obviously false. Only the methods and materials have changed, the doctrine remains the same.

Muslims get brownie points by angering or inflicting injury on disbelievers. This quote from at-Taubah 121 is out of context, but unchanged in its meaning. [Emphasis added.]

"...nor they take any step to raise the anger of disbelievers nor inflict any injury upon an enemy but is written to their credit as a deed of righteousness...."

I can not dispute the fact that we need to kill the terrorists. How we are to locate & identify them and separate them from the "innocent civilians" who shield them is an very difficult problem to solve. Terrorists are like shark teeth, when one falls, another comes forward to replace him.

We're not just fighting men but a plague of faith. Until Washington accepts that, we'll continue to reap a low return on our investments of blood and treasure.

We are fighting men who attack us because of what they believe. They believe that they have a divine mandate to conquer and subjugate the entire world. We are a tough nut to crack, they seek to demoralize us and destroy our will to resist. How do you fight "a plague of faith" ?

The abstract concept of faith is not what we must combat. Islam's faith component includes a mandate to conquer, expressed in 8:39 & 9:29 and confirmed by Sahih Bukhari 1.8.387. It includes terror as a battle tactic expressed in 3:151, 8:12, 8:57, 8:60, 33:26, 59:2 & 59:13 and confirmed by Sahih Bukhari 4.52.220. Islam is perfected and immutable. Muslims will be cursed if they abandon Jihad as a way of life.

We can not change the doctrines of Islam. Nobody can, they are fixed. So how do we combat it? We must find a way to cause Muslims to lose their faith and become disbelievers or convert to a benign belief system. To do that, we must accept the fact that Islam is the enemy and we must launch a massive, intensive ideological attack against it on a global scale. Until we launch that campaign, we will be wasting blood and treasure on the military battlefront.

On Christmas Day, a Muslim fanatic attempted to butcher hundreds of Christians (dead Jews would've been a bonus). Our response? Have airport security analyze the contents of grandma's mini-bottle of shampoo -- we don't want to "discriminate."

With our lies, self-deception and self-flagellation, we're terror's little helpers.

It is not possible to exhaust the ingenuity of men who seek ways to kill and maim us. This situation is exemplified by the Wylie Coyote cartoons in which Wylie always innovates a new attack and the road runner always escapes. But we don't always escape. Eventually, they will swallow their bombs. How will we detect swallowed bombs? Will we run every passenger through a cat scan? Instead of hassling innocent people with intrusive and expensive searches, we need to exclude Muslims from commercial flights.

The failed Christmas bombing is a wake up call. We should hear the alarm and answer it by banning Muslims from commercial flights to and over our territory. No lesser measure can possibly be sufficient.

"Defamation" Resolutions: Restricted Liberty Impaired Rights

Several excellent articles have been written about the (unintended?) consequences of the UN's resolutions Combating Defamation of Religions. Now two courageous writers have added a new dimension to the discussion by generalizing about the consequences on the ground and naming the prime offender.

Abuse of Religious Freedom Hurts Indonesia And Renders God Defenseless by Muh Taufiqurrohman and Rebecca Lunnon is clear, specific and well written. If their lives are shortened as a consequence of the publication of their article, I will not be surprised.

Besides identifying the problem and suggesting solutions, the authors have identified the principal antagonist.

In addition to harmonizing these outdated laws, the government needs to replace problematic statutes like the 1965 Law on Prevention of Abuse and Defamation of Religions, the 2006 Revised Joint Ministerial Decree on the Construction of Houses of Worship and the 1978 Guidelines for the Propagation of Religion with an all encompassing law guaranteeing religious freedom. Such a law could be written along the lines of the Australian Constitution, which prohibits the government from making any laws to establish a religion, impose religious observance or prohibit the free exercise of religion. The law should give all individuals the freedom to express a diversity of views, as long as they do not incite religious hatred or violate the rights of others. [...]

The government also must address the violation of religious freedom and human rights made possible by the existence of religious institutions such as the Coordinating Board for Monitoring Mystical Beliefs in Society (Bakor Pakem) and the Indonesian Council of Ulema (MUI). Tasked with monitoring and resolving instances of deviant interpretation of religious doctrine, Bakor Pakem’s authority has increased state intervention in religious issues in a way that clearly violates the constitutional guarantee of religious freedom.

We know our opponents are radical extremists of the irreconcilable wing of Islam (Islamists, some would call them).

We know they have an ideology which is anti-female, desires to impose fundamentalist Sharia as a form of law, is hostile to other religions and is prepared to kill the innocent to achieve their goals.

Like G.W. Bush, John McCain, Hillary Clinton & Barack Obama, Newt knows something that is untrue. Our opponent is Islam. Islam's canon of scripture, tradition & jurisprudence contains demonic injunctions to make war upon disbelievers. Islamic aggression flows directly from its scripture, tradition & jurisprudence. Islam is fundamentally and irreversibly incompatible with liberty & democracy.

Islam is paternalistic & misogynistic by design. Global imposition of Shari'ah is part of the grand design, not an innovation. Islam is not just hostile to Judaism, Christianity & Zoroastrianism, it is engaged in perpetual warfare against them.


Newt's article included seven thematic headings which deserve some attention.

• Our Politically Correct Government is Making Life More Miserable For the Innocent

It is true, p.c. policy imposes a great burden on innocent travelers and puts them at risk.

• It’s Time to Be Honest About What We Know

Really, its long overdue. But the quotes included above indicate that Newt is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

• Protecting the Rights of Terrorists Has Been More Important than Protecting the Lives of Americans

While that statement appears strident at first glance, it is an understatement. Three thousand lives might have been saved if the investigators had properly inspected the contents of one terrorist's computer. We need to scan, interrogate and search Muslims, not innocent citizens. Careful background checks are needed to identify them well in advance.

• The United States Must Actively Root Out Every Terrorist Website

I don't believe it is possible to root them out, and I am not convinced that it is desirable. As soon as one is pulled down, they'll replace it with another. Those sites can serve as a source of actionable intelligence if properly exploited.

• We Need a “Grand National Strategy” That is Bigger Than the Debate Over Afghanistan

We needed a strategy eight years ago. We needed to honestly identify the enemy first. That need has not been met yet.

If there was any new honesty, it would come too late to derail that trial. But there is no new honesty, and it is unlikely that there ever will be official honesty concerning Islam and terrorism.

That is a grand statement of the obvious. But we also need a Commander In Chief with the same knowledge. Newt Gingrich has identified a real need: official honesty in identifying and characterizing the enemy. But instead of promoting it, he has continued the politically correct practice of implying that mythical 'radical extremists' are the cause of terrorism.

In reality, believers of orthodox Islamic doctrine are responsible for terrorism. The Qur'an commands Jihad imperatives which require perpetual war. Those imperatives are in 8:39, 8:60, 9:29 & 9:123. Those imperatives are confirmed by hadith including Sahih Bukhari 1.8.387. Those imperatives are codified into Islamic law in Reliance of the Traveler O9.8 & O9.9. Terrorism is sanctified in 3:151, commanded in 8:12, exemplified in 33:26 and confirmed in Sahih Bukhari 4.52.220. The new honesty Newt calls for involves acknowledging the fatal fact documented in this paragraph. It is extremely unlikely that any candidate for high office will fully engage in such honesty.

Any politician who publicly identifies Islam as the source of Islamic terrorism and genocidal Jihad will be labeled racist & bigot. Which one of them has the SISU required to state the facts and pound home the proof? Who can withstand the Islamic & Democrat Party propaganda mills and mainstream media? We have two years in which to find such a hero. It appears that Newt is not the one. Sarah Palin has already proved herself too p.c. My bet is on Tom Tancredo.

Swiss Minaret Ban: Crucial Questions

Essam Derbalah wrote an article titled Switzerland Bans Building Minarets. I have quoted some critical questions from that article, and will answer some of them below.

Here you can wonder why the Swiss people don't liken churches steeples to missiles or their bells to the drums of war?

Why don't they consider the tattooed crosses n their hands as inspiring religious hatred?

Why don't they be too tolerant to accept Islamic hijab and minarets?

Where are the values of tolerance, recognition of the other, personal freedom and religion freedom, which Europeans in general and Swiss in particular boast to be the essence of the Western civilization?

Do minarets threaten the social peace or the national identity? Are they against the prevailing secular way of life? or are there other reasons behind this campaign?

Or is it the fear? But fear of what?

Banning the construction of minarets shows the big difference between Islam and other religions. I asked myself why have we ever called for banning the built of church steeples in Egypt or for breaking crosses?

Do you know why?

Simply because Islam prohibits that. Moreover, the majority of jurisprudents say that if a Muslim breaks a cross belongs to a Christian citizen, he will be obliges to compensate him.

Did some Christian leader recently liken steeples to missiles? BBC informs us that Recep Tayyip Erdogan read a poem in 1998 which included these words.

"The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers..."

We can find crucial clues in Shari'ah. Reliance of the Traveller, Book O, Chapter 11, Paragraph 5 lists seven rules which conquered Jews and Christians must obey. The last three items in that list hold our clues.

-5- may not build higher than or as high as the Muslims' buildings, though if they acquire a tall house, it is not razed;

-6- are forbidden to openly display wine or pork, (A: to ring church bells or display crosses,) recite the Torah or Evangel aloud, or make public display of their funerals and feastdays;

-7- and are forbidden to build new churches.

Are Egyptian Copts allowed to repair existing churches or build new churches to replace them? Tall minarets are a symbol of Islamic supremacy and dominance. Thus they have political and military significance. Building minarets in Europe is a social attack on indigenous people.

Why should a cross inspire hatred? The cross is a symbol of Christ's supreme sacrifice, which Islam denies. Islamic arrogance & supremacism render the cross a symbol of hate. Muslims hate it because it reminds them of the fallacy of their doctrine.

Islam is not tolerant. Tolerance must be reciprocal. Examine item #6 in the list from Reliance. Islamic hypocrisy and arrogance are on public display for all to witness. How can Muslims complain about intolerance in the light of 3:85 ? How can they demand freedom of religion when they deny it? The penalty for withdrawal from Islam is execution.

Minarets are symbolic of Islamic supremacism and domination. Their purpose is to intimidate the indigenous population.

The author never advocated banning church construction; big deal. Is he doing anything to lift the existing ban? Why not? What effect would his advocacy have if he did advocate lifting the ban?

Breaking crosses is an interesting diversion. Islamic law forbids displaying crosses. Islamic prophecy indicates that when Jesus Christ returns, he will "break the cross", meaning kill the remaining Christians and destroy Christianity. If you doubt that, click this link.

TWO DAYS TO REMEMBER

Christmas Eve. The candlelight service at the Bible church had ended. I stood, alone, out in the vestibule, watching the worshippers exit. I knew no one, except one woman, who was already engaged in conversation. When I next looked, she was gone.

As I turned to leave, to walk out of the candlelight into the darkness, a man blocked my way.

He smiled, reached out his hand, then said, confidently: “Have a joyous Christmas!”

I looked at him a long while. I could not smile. I finally said simply, “Thank you.”

His eyes seemed to focus on me, then he added, strongly, “God bless you.”

In my darkness I pondered this. I found I could only reply, “Thank you. I need it.”

I walked out, into the night.

As I was driving to my next destination, I pondered what I had seen at the Bible church. There was much congregational singing of Christmas carols. There were four families who reenacted the lighting of the four Advent candles. There was a prayer time for a couple headed for Ethiopa as representatives of the church. All was family-oriented, intimate, sincere.

My next stop was a church by the ocean in which I had been married years ago to my second wife. Memories.

In contrast, at this church all was organized, formal. Professional musicians played a larger part. It was a performance, complete with a sermon. One thing the pastor said stood out to me. He related how he had seen children reenacting the scene of Mary and Joseph's search for a room on the night Mary was to give birth. The boy who played the inn keeper, when asked if there were room for Mary and Joseph, threw open his arms wide, smiled and declared, "Of course, I have all the room in the world for you. Come on in!"

The preacher then made the application to us, the faithful. "No matter what you're going through this Christmas, God wants to be close to you. My prayer for you is that you will open your arms wide and let Him in."

At the end of the service I stood in line to thank the pastor. As I shook his hand, I said, "When I entered your church, I felt very low. However, all you presented here has bolstered my spirits. Thank you."

His face was very serious. He replied, "I'm glad you could be with us."

I walked out, again, into the darkness, returned home, went to bed.

The next morning, Christmas Day, I got up, went to the pictures of the woman I have loved for ten years, whom I shall call J. for Jewel, which is what she still represents to me. At each picture of J. and her family I said this, "Merry Christmas. I love you." And I cried. And cried. And cried.

I then drove in to the Catholic Basilica which I have been attending. The place was packed. I found a seat on the left side near the front.

It was a special service. A large choir in blue and white robes sang from the rear of the church. Two trumpets played, along with the Basilica's great pipe organ. We all sang the familiar Christmas carols. I felt uplifted, close to God, inspired. As we stood to sing, a white light shone through the stained glass window above me on my left and flooded me in a shaft of light. As I sang, I knew I was singing to give God glory. It was His day, the commemoration of the birth of His Son, the One Whose death made reconciliation with a holy, yet loving God possible. We sang of this. It was exhilarating!

A young woman came in late, a blond, dressed in black, blue with a white tassel. She sat on my left. Another woman came in with her son, Hispanic, and sat on my right.

When it came time to Pass the Peace, which means to greet those around you, I shook the Hispanic mother's hand, wished her a Merry Christmas, but I turned to the young blond woman, gave her a very long, strong hug, then also wished her, "Merry Christmas!"

That one hug symbolized all the love I have for J., but am not permitted to express in any tangible way. So, I demonstrated love, instead, to a stranger.

I prayed to God during this mass that He would guide me in the way I should go. If J. is not to return to me, will there be another to love? And if not, I assume, all love that I would lavish upon a human being will be directed, first toward God, then out to humanity as a whole.

While singing Christmas carols at mass, while giving one hug, while shaking hands with those around me, I finally felt joy deep inside on Christmas Day at the Basilica.

"Have a joyous Christmas!"

Indeed.

After mass, I drove to the Fairgrounds where a Christmas Day meal was being served to the homeless and any others who attended.

A few days earlier I had gone for a checkup to my cardiologist, to whom I had also sent a copy of my first post on this blog site. He knew I was headed to the Fairgrounds, to dine with the homeless.

He looked at me a long time, then stated, "You are emotionally homeless."

I nodded. "Yes, that's true."

The line at the Fairgrounds was very long. It stretched all the way across the room. Rectangular and circular tables filled the room. There was a table for face painting for the children. There was a Santa to hear their wishes. There was a free clothing table.

Once I filled my plate, I noted how the non-homeless, the more well-to-do, had saved many seats at the various tables for friends. So, I determined to eat outside in the open air with the homeless, and left the greedy to accumulate seats as they wished. There was room outside on the grass for me.

Four homeless people were already out there on the lawn: a young couple, two older men with beards. The sun shone down. The grass was a brilliant green.

A man walked by with a name tag on: B. I spoke to him, since he had come close, then stopped.

"Hello, B. Merry Christmas. I'm S."

"Yes, I know you. I've seen you before, at prayer."

"That could be. Where?"

He mentioned another church I had attended with J., until our breakup, until one Saturday morning I earnestly asked prayer for help for J. of the men gathered there.

I was informed, later, via E-mail, that my prayer for J. had called too much attention to myself. So I was thereby disinvited by an official to ever return to pray with the men on Saturday at that church.

And so, I have not returned.

B. and I conversed. He is married to a Jewess. They will be headed to Germany in February, where B. will teach in English in a Bible college there. He has yet to learn any German, but will take courses there.

B. remembered a prayer of mine from one past meeting. He said he was struck by my intensity. "You pray what you truly believe, deep down inside."

"Yes."

"It's intense. So different. Even frightening."

"Perhaps..."

B. asked to pray for me. He prayed that God would lead J. back to me, if that is what God desires, but he asked that J. be lead close to God Himself first. I echoed that prayer.

I prayed for B., for protection, guidance, success.

His wife wants to go to Israel. "That might prove dangerous," I added.

"Not now, it's as safe a place as can be."

"Yes, but not forever."

I then left the Fairgrounds, wishing Merry Christmas to all whom I met on the way to my car.

"Have a joyous Christmas!"

Well, yes, without J., as merry as could be. Happy in song, happy in a long hug, happy in prayer.

The two days ended. Two days to remember.

According to the Times On Line, the perpetrator was on a terrorist watch list, but not the no-fly list. Somehow he was able to carry a two part explosive device aboard Northwest 253 and set it off on the aircraft neared Detroit. After the shoe bomber incident eight years ago and the recent incident in Saudi Arabia, when a Muslim detonated a bomb he had swallowed, somebody should have wised up. While there are Muslims on this planet, there will be no security. Allowing them to access their favorite bombing venues is suicidal insanity.

There is only one way to prevent those attacks: clip their wings; prevent Muslims from entering this country by air. After they switch to blowing up cruise liners, perhaps our government will wise up enough to bar their entry completely. This is common sense, not rocket science.

The following petition is long overdue.

If you favor national security and flight safety, sign the petition linked above and urge everyone you can influence to sign it. If you perceive the petition to be bigoted, racist or hateful, you are too stupid and ignorant to be a participant in modern society. Recognizing the identity & character of our sworn enemy is not bigotry, neither is it racism; it is common sense. Islam declared perpetual war against Jews & Christians in 623. Islamic law requires a minimum of one attack against us in every year, failing only when Islam is too weak to mount a successful attack. Now is the time to drop the blindfold of political correctness & hoodwink of multiculturalism. Open your eyes and examine objective factual reality. 278 people had a close call with death because our government is too cowardly to name and shame the enemy. The bombing of Pan Am 103 should have been a sufficient lesson. Richard Reid's failed mission should have been a sufficient lesson. Will you ever learn?

Out of Darkness.

I first thought of writing for Right Hooks last summer, in the month of July, I believe. At the time I was deeply in love with a woman, a relationship that had lasted ten years. Little did I know that before I could enter a single line into Right Hooks, this relationship would come to an end in a most unexpected, sudden fashion.

My world turned upside down.

The hardest thing about a breakup, for me, is the loss of all connected with intimacy: handholding, long phone conversations, hugs, gifts, lunches. Everything seems accentuated now, now, because it is the Holiday Season: one supposedly of Joy, Christmas Carols, Parties, Festive Decorations.

And I am in darkness...

Because my own family members are all far away in a Midwestern state, I invariably spent the Thanksgiving through New Year's Holidays over the past ten years with the woman I love and her family. Now that is quickly all gone. If you lose the one you love, you may also lose the family as well. This is now reality for me.

I cry a lot. I listen to romantic ballads by singers such as Reba McEntire, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and the tears simply fall. I've concluded, composers of love songs rarely write about happy moments. I guess they're too busy enjoying them. Most all of the songs deal with the pain and heartache of a breakup. We feel those times intensely. I do. You, maybe, too.

For Christmas Eve I plan to go hear music at a local church, one in which, a number of years ago, I was married to my second wife. This also will bring back memories.

My plans for Christmas Day center around going to the Fairgrounds to have Christmas dinner with the homeless who are invited there and fed, free of charge to them. Why would I choose to do that? Well, I've contributed often to groups that serve the homeless; plus, like you, I've handed money to those pitiful cases who stand on streetcorners in the cold with blank faces and empty eyes. I've asked them how they ended up on the street. It normally involves a story of sudden financial reversal, often stemming from a legal matter.

If an emotional crisis can hit suddenly, with little warning, so perhaps can a financial or a health crisis.

Throughout the community in which I live many have set up light displays. The most popular symbol seems to be the star, the one which lead the Wise Men to the Christ Child, to the One who was called the Light of the World.

In my own personal darkness I definitely feel the need of a light to guide me, to the place where I am meant to go. Perhaps you feel that way, too.

Combating Defamation of Religions: Vote Trend

The optimists will say that the General Assembly vote trend on Defamation of Religions resolutions favors freedom. I am not so optimistic. Only eight votes swung in our favor between '08 & '09 and the abstention trend was flat. The slope of the yes vote line seems flatter this year compared to the previous decline. The quantitative growth has been in abstentions, not negations. Abstentions have no effect on the outcome. Unfortunately, a plurality still supports the resolutions, voting against freedom of religion and expression.

If the current trend holds, the resolution could be defeated in '11. but I do not expect that to happen. I expect that, if the vote grows closer. many member states will jump from abstention to the yes column. If they wanted the resolution to fail, they would vote no instead of abstaining.

Combating Defamation of Religions: the Substance

The final text of the Combating Defamation of Religions resolution (passed 12/18/'09) spans pages 67-72 of a 151 page pdf file: A/64/439/Add.2, part II. If you want to read it aloud, you'd better take breath control lessons, because the resolution is basically one long run on sentence. It begins by recalling and reaffirming previous resolutions and documents. The trip down the memory lane sewer is followed by a series of statements of alarm and concern.

Expressing serious concern at the increase in racist violence...

Are they seriously concerned about the recent burning and looting of Christian churches, homes and businesses in Egypt & Pakistan? Of course not, that is not what concerns them.

as a result, inter alia, of the resurgence of activities of political parties and associations established on the basis of racist, xenophobic and ideological superiority platforms and charters, and the persistent use of those platforms and charters to promote or incite racist ideologies,

No, their concern is about the Dutch Freedom Party and similar parties in Europe which express concern about Islamic encroachment & demographic conquest. But they are deeply concerned about:

Islamic scripture calumniates Jews, Christians and disbelievers in general, then it declares war and incites violence against them. Where is the U.N.'s concern about that prime exemplar of evil? See what else they are stressing.

Reaffirming that discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief constitutes a violation of human rights and a disavowal of the principles of the Charter,

What is defamation of religions; what constitutes incitement to hatred? Who decides? I direct your attention to Ban Ki-moon's egregious condemnation of the short documentary by Geert Wilders.

Reuters quotes U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon about Fitna:

“There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence,” Ban said in a statement. “The right of free expression is not at stake here.”

The man chiefly responsible for enforcing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights asserts that there is no right to tell the truth about Islam. [Emphasis added for clarity.] Fitna is not hate speech nor is it incitement; it accurately depicts Islamic hate speech and incitement.

Demonstrating the intimate connection (cause & effect) between Islam's scripture and violence evidently constitutes hate speech and violence. Take a good long look at the incidents the OIC complains about in their Islamophobia report. Here is what it all boils down to.

Expresses deep concern in this respect that Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism;

Human rights violations? Such as the right to life? How about the right to be secure in their person and property? How are our rights affected by the declaration of war previously cited (9:29)? How are our rights affected by Muhammad's complete denial of them, as well as the sanctity of our blood & property?

Is Islam wrongly associated with terrorism? Who created that association? What did Allah say about terrorism?

• 3:151. We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they joined others in worship with Allâh, for which He had sent no authority; their abode will be the Fire and how evil is the abode of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong­doers).
• 8:12. (Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes."

Allah said that he would cast terror, Muslims must cast terror, and they did cast terror. What did Muhammad say?

• Bukhari Volume 1, Book 7, Number 331 [...] Allah made me victorious by awe, (by His frightening my enemies) for a distance of one month's journey. [...]
• Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220 [...] I have been made victorious with terror [...]

Allah said he would cast terror, Moe said he was made victorious by it. There is nothing wrong with the association of Islam with terrorism! Lets look at the specific application of the wrongly associated meme.

Any association of Islam with terrorism is defamatory by default. So I have defamed Islam by quoting from its own canon of scripture and tradition. Yeah, right. What is the bottom line?

Do you remember what Ban said about Fitna ("incitement to violence")? They postulate a national obligation to criminalize documentaries such as Fitna and this blog post.

The Combating Defamation of Religious resolutions are propaganda, not law. But they serve to add a false patina of legitimacy to existing blasphemy laws in Pakistan and other places where they are used to persecute adherents of minority religions. They also create an atmosphere of support for the proposed protocol to ICERD which is slowly progressing in the Ad Hoc Committee for the Elaboration of Complementary Standards. That protocol will become binding international law.
